Divided into five sub-groups, Vishwakarma community is classified as - carpenters, blacksmiths, bell metalworkers, goldsmiths and stonemasons. Referring themselves as Viswabrahmin, they believe that they are descendants of Hindu deity, Vishvakarman and they refer themselves as Viswabrahmin. They also believe that they are gifted with creative skills and so most of them have adopted engineering, art and architecture professions in India. They are ardent believers of five Vedas - Rigveda, Yajurveda, Samaveda, Atharvaveda, and Pranava Veda. All the rituals and traditions in the Vishwakarma marriages are followed strictly as per these five Vedas.
